Meet Our Founder, Stephanie Heaton
Years ago I was a single mother trying to make ends meet, when I decided to take some college courses in the hope of making life better for myself and my son. A few years later, I found myself not only saddled with student loan debt, but that the balance had nearly tripled as interest accrued. However, I began to hear about lawsuits and student loan debt relief through various programs, and I entered an income-based repayment plan or IBR. Eventually, I applied for and was granted a Borrower’s Defense student loan discharge. But that is the short version. The reality was that it long process with many hoops to jump through, particularly when dealing with a loan servicer that doesn’t want to you to stop paying or somehow get out of paying for as long as possible. My credit was destroyed in the process. But eventually, I was student loan debt free.
Today, my passion is helping people gain the student loan debt relief they deserve. I have over 11 years experience doing so, and am familiar with the options and plans available to federal debt holders. The “hoops”, or compliance requirements, or what to do when you aren’t getting results with the banks, are no longer bewildering, as I deal with them every day. If there is a way for you to either reduce your balance or get your student loans discharged, I will find out. If there is nothing I can do, I will also tell you, but I will also make every effort to leave you with more knowledge about your situation that you started with.
